Sports & Activities

QSI Shenzhen students benefit from comprehensive Sports and Extracurricular activities from Early Years through Secondary IV.

Physical Education and extracurricular activities are an integral part of the QSI Shenzhen student experience. We passionately believe a high-quality sports program gives students a chance to be healthy, develop relationships, and participate in learning opportunities away from the classroom.

QSI’s athletic program offers students the opportunity to learn sportsmanship and team building as they become a part of the community.  Students can participate in soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, touch rugby, and cross country.

We are a proud member of The Association of China and Mongolia International School (ACAMIS), Southern Delta Region Conference (SDRC), Pearl River Conference (PRC), and Shenzhen International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC).  Throughout the school year, middle school and secondary students participate in memorable events hosted by these conferences.

Our athletic program at QSI aims to help students maximize their potential physically, mentally, and socially.

After School Activities

QSI Shenzhen also prides itself in its rich extra-curricular offerings. These vary by campus and age level, and offerings may change each semester. In the past, students have had the chance to take part in robotics, karate, ballet, gymnastics, chess, and cheerleading.

Experiential Learning

In the spring, middle school and secondary students have the opportunity to take part in Experiential Learning (EL) Week. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore a subject or project, reflect on their learning, and then communicate to an audience the relevance of the new knowledge they gained through the experience. The subject and/or project will fall within one of these five themes: How the World Works, Service Learning, Past/Present/Future, Fine Arts, and Team Building. Through experiential learning, students get to break away from the normal rigors of the classroom and be exposed to a wide-range of activities and experiences.

Experiential Learning Week typically includes international and local learning opportunities for students. Activities taking place around Shenzhen give students the chance to participate in hands-on activities related to their interests, and international trips help students further their cultural understanding and international mindedness. Past offerings have included focuses on 3D printing, drone racing, and cooking as well as themed trips to India, Poland, and the USA. Recently, due to COVID-19, activities have ranged closer to home and have included horseback riding, sailing, and travel to Yangshuo.
